Wednesday 14th December – walk **** – Martlesham Creek – Sunny and very cold.

For the most part it was wall to wall sunshine but oh so cold struggling to get above freezing point! With a trip to visit the lovely Maeva in the afternoon it meant a walk and picnic somewhere which left me free to do my exercises before making a sandwich to go with our cuppa soup. Leaving home around midday we decided to head to Martlesham church stopping at Tesco’s on the way for another £120 of diesel! Setting off at 12.15 well wrapped up with wellies and snow boots but as it was so cold the ground was still frozen with little mud! Through the icy churchyard first then down to the footpath leading to Martlesham creek seeing several really friendly robins, one particularly was pleased to pose for me in the sunshine:) It did not feel too cold as the north wind was not too strong, the path back along the creek was really slippery and there were loads of birds feeding in the mud including a solitary avocet, with loads of waders and ducks. There was even broken ice covering the mud in places with the frost still heavy in the hedgerow still in the shade! Back though the small boatyard and up through the woods and back to the van for lunch with several curlews feeding in the field.
We then took the back road to Ipswich as the sun disappeared and it became gloomy but we soon reached the hospital to visit Maeva, after a bit of a blimp yesterday when her temperature dropped a little but she is back on track today. Mag went in first as Jay was feeding and then got a cuddle, my turn came and she was fast asleep, looking very content and looked amazing in her Santa’s little helper Elf hat. The ward had their Christmas tree up which made it very festive and we will visit on Christmas day. Then home for a cuppa and sort out my pics, I have some nice ones but didn’t get any on TV today:(
